ALMANAC "THESIS" About the Almanac

The aim of the project was to acquaint a Russian audience with the main tendencies in contemporary Western social sciences. Most of the almanac consists of translations of articles by major Western economists, sociologists and historians. Each issue has a general theme, connecting the most interesting approaches to the topic. The international scientific community provided eminent support for the almanac: its Editorial Council included leading Western and Russian specialists in the spheres of economics, sociology and history.

The almanac received financial support from the Cultural Initiative Foundation (the Soros Foundation), Ministere des Affaires Etrangeres francais et de l'Ambassade de France a Moscou, Goethe-Institut Inter Nationes Moskau, Stiftverband fur die Deutsche Wissenschaft, the US Agency for International Development (via the Eurasia Foundation), the Inter-disciplinary Academic Center for the Social Sciences (Intercenter), Business Analytica Company, Most-Bank and Frau G.
