On September 26, the Third Summer School on German Palaeography will take place, co-sponsored by IGITI and the German Historical Institute in Moscow. Kirill Levinson (IGITI, GHIM) and Albrecht Ernst (Baden-Wurttemberg State Archives, Stuttgart) will offer lectures and practical classes.

To work with German-language handwritten sources of the 16th - early 20th centuries it is not enough to know German: one needs special training to be able to read Kurrent, the cursive with which most of these texts are written. However, it does not require much time. During the one-day online summer school participants will be able to master the most important paleographic skills and practice reading manuscripts. The school will be held online. Everybody is welcome. The only condition for participation is good command of German. Kirill Levinson's lecture on early modern German manuscripts (in Russian) and Albrecht Ernst's lecture about late 19th century texts (in German) will be accompanied by practical exercises.
