Research Seminar of the Russian Museum of Medicine

Russian Museum of Medicine invites to a meeting of the regular seminar "Publish or Perish"

At the seminar of the Russian Museum of Medicine on June 9, 2020 at 14:00 Moscow time, a report by K.S. Khudin "From the Tsar to the Peasant. Medical Prescriptions in Russia in the 17th Century: Perspectives of Studying and Creating a Patient Database" will be made.

The report is devoted to the informative potential of such a historical source as prescriptions for the Aptekarskii Prikaz, the medical department of Russia of the early New Time. In addition to the history of medicine itself, this subtype of paperwork provides historical material for social history. It allows to establish the social composition of patients and partially supplement their biographies. In addition, a comprehensive study of this corpus of documents using source study and statistical methods allows us to estimate the volume of drug consumption, as well as the income and expenses of the Pharmaceutical Order from their implementation.
