Oksana Zaporozhets participated in a conference at the University of Leeds

Leading research fellow of IGITI Oksana Zaporozhets took part in 2017 annual conference of the International Sociological Association Research Committee 21 on Urban and Regional Development, held on September 11-13 in the University of Leeds.

Oksana Zaporozhets presented a paper «“Transform your city into a sketchbook”: functions of graffiti and street art in contemporary Berlin», based on research performed together with IGITI leading research fellow Natalia Samutina in a session titled «Street Art, Graffiti, and Urban Interventions: Inscriptions of ‘Crisis’ in Public Space» .

Oksana Zaporozhets, together with Anna Zhelnina (City University of New York) also organised and chaired conference session «Social Production of Urban Periphery / High-Rise Suburbia», which was devoted to spatial and social organisation of new urban areas and was composed of studies carried out in such cities as Bogota, Mumbai, São Paulo, London, Casablanca and Chŏngjin.
