Our research centre is a small interdisciplinary unit within the Poletaev Institute for Theoretical and Historical Studies in the Humanities, which is part of the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

Sociologists, historians, and scholars from different areas of cultural studies are working here together on various themes concerning contemporary culture: on participatory cultures and fandoms, sociology of popular imagination, popular music, contemporary urban cultures, popular history and memory, changing museum cultures, etc. We are united by the interest (and even passion) for contemporary culture and its multiple forms, as well as by the task of developing new theoretical approaches to fast-changing cultural phenomena.
