The research object is dual dynamics of the historical development of the humanities. On the one hand, goals of research are problems of different forms of an institutional development of  the humanities ("fixation", reproduction and functional parameters of the unity of scientific knowledge)  -  departments, institutes, research centers, etc. On the other hand, the study will focus on the relationship between an institutional development of the humanities  and the "natural" and self-organizing processes in different academic communities (historians, sociologists, linguists and economists and others).

The research project will study different ways of  the development of the humanities:

-          promotion  and initiation  of research by means of changes in organizational framework of academic work (in particular, the creation of departments in universities and academies as a tool for the invention of new disciplines),  setting boundaries between different types of knowledge;

-          characteristics and parameters of contradictory dynamics of different forms of "bottom-up"  professional communication - emerging of schools, clubs, associations and organizational and institutional stabilization of these forms of communication; an  influence of "places of knowledge" and the geography of knowledge;

-          searching for methodology and philosophical reflection in different periods; these factors can impact  the disciplinary organization of socio-humanitarian knowledge -  from various "turns" (linguistic, spatial, etc.) to epistemic intervention and "imperialist" interactions of different disciplines.
