IGITI Research Fellow Jan Surman took part in a conference “Problems of Scientific Freedom in Modern and Contemporary History” in Frankfurt (November 2-3), “Academic Freedom in Historical Perspective – Anniversary Conference of the European Review of History” in Budapest (8-10 November), and a series of public lectures on recent research in Habsburg history at CEU, Budapest.

The talk was presented by Dr Ellen Rutten, Professor of Literature at the University of Amsterdam. The VII Andrey Poletayev Memorial Readings: "Geography of Knowledge: Map and Territory"
On October 2, Poletayev Readings took place in IGITI. It is an annual conference of IGITI, held in early autumn in memory of the founder of the Institute Andrey Poletaev (1952–2010). Poletayev Readings has become a tradition for the Instutute and a great place to reflect on ongoing research, to discuss current problems and to plan future projects.
